coach Todd Richards

One month after leading the Blue Jackets to their best regular season and their first and only playoff wins, coach Todd Richards has been rewarded with a contract extension.
Richards, whose existing contract carried through next season, agreed on a two-year extension through the 2016-17 season, the club announced today. The Dispatch reported last month that Blue Jackets president of hockey operations John Davidson and GM Jarmo Kekalainen told Richards after the season ended that they wanted to talk about a long-term contract.
Guess we could not find anybody else too bad he is a boring coach and scratches good players for players that run around trying to check all the time and take bad penalties.. One thing this organization does do good is feed the playoff teams with good players.

Ex Jackets

If you thing about it look how many Jackets are in the playoffs. This organizing has not changed . They get rid of good players for high salary hurt players who can't perform. Richards need to go .

R.J. Umberger

R.J. Umberger was a healthy scratch four times down the stretch for the Coach Todd Richards said it was because he wanted more speed in the lineup. It’s a decision that has Umberger speeding for the exit. The veteran forward requested a trade from the Blue Jackets, and GM Jarmo Kekalainen will apparently honor the request, according to Aaron Portzline’s sources.
Richards is the one who needs to go. He got totally out coached by Pittsburg. He is a boring coach and totally over rated. This is typical of the organization in cols they get rid of the good players for unproven youth and over pay for worn out older players that barely produce.. Please get rid of Richards

Brandon Dubinsky and Derek MacKenzie

Blue Jackets centers Brandon Dubinsky and Derek MacKenzie each went under the knife during the second week of their off-seasons, but the surgeries were indeed minor.
Dubinsky had a procedure on his ankle this morning, general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said. Kekalainen wouldn't reveal any specifics of the surgery, except to say that it "wasn't structural."
MacKenzie had right shoulder surgery on Tuesday, he said, "just a scope to clean up some stuff in there." He stopped by the rink today with his arm in a sling.
Both players are expected to be ready long before training camp in September.
MacKenzie is an unrestricted free agent as of July 1, but all signs point to him being re-signed by the Blue Jackets.
