Columbus will be deluged in a few days with ice-hockey fans from Ohio, neighboring states and beyond. An estimated 140,000 people, including 8,000 to 10,000 out-of-towners, are expected to partake in the myriad events that make up NHL All-Star Weekend. The economic impact of the event is expected to extend well beyond the obvious crowds, as Sunday’s game will be seen in 150 countries, providing rare and valuable media exposure for the city. Three Jackets players were invited yesterday to take part in the NHL All-Star Game, set for Jan. 25 in Nationwide Arena. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, left wing Nick Foligno and center Ryan Johansen were among 36 players announced yesterday after selection by the league hockey’s operation department.
